Star Wars: Episode VIII Working Title Revealed By Carrie Fisher

Now, via social media, Carrie Fisher (and her popular pup, Gary Fisher) has confirmed the rumor, snapping a shot of her chair at Pinewood Studios.

As you can see, the on-set title for the film is Space Bear: Episode VIII, complete with a little panda bear emoji replacing one of the letters in the title. Batman Begins was called The Intimidation Game during its production and each subsequent Dark Knight film also received as working title. However, according to a recent report from The Wrap, the film has been pushed back to an undetermined date, successfully preventing it from clashing head-on with the release of “Star Wars: Episode VIII”.

Other studios and productions have utilized working titles as well, at times making them a kind of in-joke for the production staff. Marvel Studios used the title Group Hug for The Avengers, while After Party was used as a production title for its sequel.

So it’s unlikely “Space Bear” will make it into your local multiplex in December 2018. Lupita Nyong’o might’ve joined “VII” in a great role-now, apparently, it’s the turn of “Jurassic Park’s” Laura Dern and “Guardians of the Galaxy’s” Benicio Del Toro to be a part of the cast.

Disney recently stoked fans’ excitement over the release of Episode VIII by debuting a short clip to mark the beginning of the film’s principal photography.

YouTuber Mike Zeroh claims that someone claiming to be a “lighting tech or boom op” emailed him some plot details that describe the climax of Episode VIII.
