Donald Trump has been declared as the victor of the South Carolina Republican Primary, paving his way for the Republican nomination. “In the end, Republican elites found that in SC, they couldn’t beat something with nothing”.
Trump has been projected as the victor of SC by a healthy margin.
John Kasich and Ben Carson were also well behind in SC, raising questions about the long-term prospects of their campaigns.
Continuing his disappointing showing, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was only able to grab 10 percent of the Republicans deciding to vote. Cruz and Trump both fare well among the voters who feel “betrayed” by their party, and Trump wins 42% of the voters who say they are angry at the federal government. Donald totally trumped Ted and the rest of the GOP candidates, winning the New Hampshire primary by a landslide.
Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio continue in a close race for second.
When the polls closed in sc and the various television networks said it was too close to call, it looked like we were in for a long night. Marco Rubio, the 44-year-old son of Cuban immigrants hopped on stage amid piercing cheers, alongside Nikki Haley, South Carolina’s Indian-American governor, and Tim Scott, the state’s African-American senator.
Trump’s victory comes after a week in which he threatened to sue one rival, accused former President George W. Bush of lying about the Iraq war and even tussled with Pope Francis on immigration.
Among those who were looking for an outsider candidate, Trump clearly dominated with 61% support.
Bush, the former Florida governor, entered the 2016 presidential race as an early favorite, but fell in the polls steadily, despite having had a couple strong debate performances in recent weeks.
Bush hoped his deep family ties to SC – his brother and father each won two primaries here – would be a lifeline for his struggling campaign.
