Postgame report: Tyler Dorsey leads Oregon over Oregon State in Civil War
Tyler Dorsey tied his career high with 25 points as No. 16 Oregon defeated Oregon State 91-81 on Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena. “He played well. I’m glad he had this type of game, too, and it helps our team a lot”.

Oregon’s Chris Boucher, right, shoots over Oregon State’s Cheikh N’diaye during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Eugene, Ore. Tyler Dorsey would continue with his hot hand hitting 9 of 15 from the floor and lead OR with 23 points. Brooks made all 10 free throws, and Boucher was 9 of 10.
Already in the bonus before the second media timeout, the Ducks made a 17-4 run that Dillon Brooks, above driving past Stephen Thompson Jr., AP photo, contributed 9 points to, to take a 23-12 lead.
Brooks capped a 10-3 run that offset Oregon State’s and made it 70-46 by midway in the second half, and the Beavers never made any headway as long as it mattered.
What It Means: The Ducks emphatically avenged their loss in Corvallis to open conference play this season, and also bounced back from their subpar performances in losses at California and Stanford last week. Tyler Dorsey and Elgin Cook picked up the scoring early for the Oregon Ducks who led 6-5 with just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
Tyler Dorsey. What a game from the Freshman. Boucher leads in rebounds with 7.5 while Casey Benson tops in assists with 3.2 per game. Oregon State is led by first baseman K.J. Harrison and starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen, the only two freshmen chosen for the all-Pac-12 team last season.
Oregon State was within 28-18 after Tinkle scored, but Oregon followed with 10 straight points as Benson made a 3-pointer and Dorsey converted a three-point play.
Cook, who has played for the Ducks in the NCAA tournament the past two seasons, has a simple message for the newcomers this year.
“We were active”, Altman said. He ranks in the top 10 in each category in the Pac-12…. “In that first half in particular, I thought we flew around pretty good”.
OR shot 51.7 percent from the field during the first half to take a 51-28 lead at halftime led by Dorsey with 15 points. OR had seven blocked shots in the game to set the school season record with 162. The Ducks have won eight of their last nine games.
