Kentucky served Drake a cease and desist

That has been surpassed by something that happened a couple hours later.

Kentucky’s compliance department self-reported impermissible communication between Drake, a frequent presence around Wildcat basketball, and three recruits on April 27, according to documents obtained by Sporting News.

According to Kami Mattioli of Sporting News, the school sent the Toronto Raptors global ambassador a cease-and-desist letter for his interactions with three recruits at the Big Blue Madness event at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, last October.

In addition to his involvement in an NCAA violation, Drake also air-balled at last year’s Big Blue Madness.

Kentucky thought this pretty much a harmless gesture that didn’t really help Matthews in recruiting, but they still had to send Drake a cease-and-desist letter and tell the NCAA about it. From 0 to 100, what are the chances that letter actually reached Drake?

Kentucky coach John Calipari weighed in on Wednesday clarifying that Drake is still a part of the Kentucky squad and he hopes to see him soon.

Photo evidence corroborates the report, as a shot of recruit Charles Matthews (who had already committed to Kentucky in February 2014) taking a picture with the rapper surfaced on Twitter after the event.

Drake coached one of the intrasquad teams at Big Blue Madness in 2009.

The Wildcats just would be better off if they can find a way to keep him and the high school prospects in attendance from crossing paths.
