Nile Rodgers Defends Lady Gaga’s Grammy Tribute to David Bowie
Yet the most sweeping performance of the night was Lady Gaga’s homage to the inimitable David Bowie.

Nile Rodgers has defended Lady Gaga’s Grammys tribute to David Bowie after the singer’s medley performance was criticised by some viewers and critics.
However it apparently did not find favour with film director Duncan Jones, previously known as Zowie Bowie.
“Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused”, he wrote. “Damn it! What IS that word!?”, Jones tweeted. The hordes of commenters on her impressive-yet-frustrating performance blasted Gaga for rushing through songs, and making it a show about her, rather than an artistic tribute to Bowie. Her Grammy performance included snippets of many Bowie favorites, including “Space Oddity”, “Changes”, “Ziggy Stardust”, “Suffragette City”, “Rebel Rebel”, “Fashion”, “Fame,” “Under Pressure”, “Let’s Dance” and “Heroes“.
Some attacked Duncan for appearing to diss Gaga, with one Twitter user responding, “How awful of you. GG is talented but that “tribute” missed the spirit of Bowie entirely”, said another fan.
The 29-year-old pop superstar shocked crowds with an “impromptu” set with Brian Newman’s jazz band at the V Magazine Party which lasted 30 minutes. I started to live my life like him.
Gaga recently told the Hollywood Reporter: “When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls. I don’t know what my identity would be”.

David died last month at the age of 69 after a secret cancer battle, just days after he released his final album, and celebrities rushed to social media to praise Gaga’s tribute.
