Samsung took away microSD support on the Galaxy S6 devices, but they have reintroduced the much-loved feature on both S7 and S7 edge. A free Gear VR virtual reality headset will be offered to customers in America, Europe, and “select other countries” as a pre-order bonus.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now official, and some of you may be wondering when you’ll be able to get your hands on one.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are the company’s most important phones of 2016 and AT&T has rushed to announce plans and prices for the duo.

Well to talk about virtual reality; remember Samsung’s Gear VR is powered by Facebook-owned Oculus Rift.

This year is also expected to see discussion on 5G internet – the next generation of wireless data for phones which will bring faster internet speeds to mobile devices – which could arrive by 2017.

For a quick basic overview of the new Samsung Galaixy S7, the video from The Verge noted above covers some of new features like better water resistance, a new MicroSD Slot for added memory and new camera features.

U.S. Cellular – U.S. Cellular will begin offering pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge starting on February 23, 2016.

The phone’s always-on display is also a big functionality update – rather than having to turn your screen on to check the time and notifications, all the relevant information will be displayed constantly, in a basic format created to save the battery. This, combined with the f/1.7 aperture means it lets in 95% more light which is insane impressive when you consider how good last year’s phone already was at low light photography.

LG, meanwhile, designed the LG 360 VR headset to work with an LG smartphone that’s attached by a cable. The company even invited Facebook (FB, Tech30) CEO Mark Zuckerberg on stage during its presentation to help promote the VR partnership between the two firms.
