Sony said the new line-up, which includes the Xperia X and Xperia XA smartphones, will sit in between the flagship Xperia Z Series and midrange Xperia M Series. The Japanese giant already made a bluff over Twitter before, dropping release dates but did not push through. A press render of a device supposedly called the Sony Smart Ear has surfaced online courtesy of prolific leaker Evan Blass. Both will come in white, graphite black, lime gold and rose gold for Summer 2016 but prices have yet to be detailed.

Like some of its rivals, Sony has opted for a curved-glass display that’s set within a rounded continuous frame.

Battery life has always been a priority for Sony, with the flagship Xperias boasting a minimum of a day and a half of life between charges.

With a 3200 mAh battery capacity, the device is also expected to feature the Sony STAMINA mode and the Ultra-STAMINA mode. There’s no mention of what processor the Xperia XA uses but we assume it’s another Snapdragon, possibly the Snapdragon 625. Sony has also introduced Predictive Hybrid Autofocus which lets you lets you choose your subject and then predicts its motion, so you can capture the action in ideal focus.

And while we don’t know specific camera specs just yet, we’re expecting both phones to pack a 21-megapixel snapper that can shoot 4K video. No word on pricing, but Sony did state that they are planning on releasing it in the summer.
