McLaurin’s wish came true last week, when she met and even danced with the president and Michelle Obama.
“I didn’t think I’d ever live to see a colored president”.
The month of February is celebrated as Black History Month to acknowledge the contribution of African Americans, past and present, towards shaping the United States of America.

Opening her arms wide and hugging the President and the First Lady, before holding their hands and performing a brief dance of joy.
The encounter seemed to please the first couple: “You have just made our day, you know that?” The YouTube video was accompanied by a White House petition and a Facebook page. “I’m not ready for a new one”, her granddaughter says.
Virginia McLaurin told Barack and Michelle she was there to support black rights.
