Maserati Levante: the Porsche Cayenne in the crosshairs
The auto is all set to make its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.

The Italian automaker has revealed its all-new SUV, the Levante, ahead of its motor show showcase. The fast, sports-bred SUV class is now “thronging with absurdly strong contenders” such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Porsche Macan and the Range Rover Sport.
Standard features include an electronic suspension with controlled damping and air springs, all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Despite its obviously larger proportions, the Levante still retains much of that signature Maserati design, with an aggressive front that sports a wide grille and the famous trident badge.
Even if the reveal hasn’t gone to plan, the vehicle in question, the Levante, will be a welcome edition to the premium SUV market and one that, based on initial images and specifications, has managed to meet the desires of crossover customers without jeopardising Maserati’s design language.
Further back, the company’s logo sits on the C-pillar, while all the door windows are frameless, and the coupe-like rear end is dominated by the tapered back window.
Maserati is yet to elaborate on specific engines, but it has mentioned there will be a choice of Euro 6-compliant petrol and diesel lumps.
Maserati’s first SUV in more than a century of carmaking will slot in alongside the Ghibli, Quattroporte, GranTurismo and GranCabrio models to complete its range of distinctively different luxury cars.

The Maserati Levante is built at the Mirafiori plant in Turin the first cars have already come off the assembly line with the launch planned for this spring in Europe, to be followed by the rest of the world later this year.
