Jeb Bush suspends presidential campaign after fourth-place finish in SC

Meanwhile for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton won Saturday’s Nevada caucuses with 52.6% of the vote to Bernie Sanders’ 47.4% as the rivals prepare for the next contest in SC on Saturday. A hallmark of Trump’s campaign has been consistent and highly personal savaging of his political rivals – or anyone else he perceives has attacked him, including a milder rebuke of Pope Francis. But those fortunes didn’t extend to Sanders this weekend. Mr. Trump doubled down on his efforts to build a wall between the United States and Mexico and to end the controversial White House healthcare plan commonly called Obamacare. In a speech thanking his supporters, Rubio had nothing but kind words for the former Florida governor who had attempted to brand himself as “Jeb!”

Sanders is expected to lose to Clinton in Saturday’s primary in SC – where the Clintons vacationed when President Bill Clinton was in office – with a heavily black Democratic electorate, a key Clinton constituency.

It is the second consecutive victory for the Trump campaign, after winning in the state of New Hampshire. “Oh I like that much better”, Trump said when the lights went out.

Trump acknowledged that he probably needs to act more presidential.

“I really do think there’ll be a lot of support for Marco”, Brill said. “Right now, I’m fighting for my life”.

SC was viewed as a last early voting state for Bush to make a mark.

Donald Trump’s general election prediction: He’ll face Hillary Clinton, and the two will bring out “the greatest turnout in history”.

On Saturday, Trump handily won in SC.

There’s another candidate who threatens to pick up some of Bush’s support: Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who finished in second place in New Hampshire.

Sen Sanders remained upbeat, telling supporters after he conceded to Mrs Clinton in Nevada, “five weeks ago, we were 25 points behind in the polls”.

“I didn’t think a man named Bush could win another national election”, Gaines said.

“I think that’s a question that people are trying to sort through”. Many states will hold primaries on March 1, a day known as Super Tuesday.

Trump, now the clear leader in the race for delegates, cemented his standing as his party’s favorite. “It’s tough, it’s nasty, it’s mean, it’s vicious, it’s handsome”, he said. “You have to have a true conservative” to win.

Donald Trump will get 44 delegates towards the Republican Party convention in July.

Given that Trump’s ego is permanently set in “Rewrite The Book Of Genesis And Take Credit For Creating The World” mode, we can expect him to change his tune on this soon.
