Bill Cosby’s Wife Is Deposed in Defamation Case
Bill Cosby’s wife was scheduled on Monday to face lawyers for seven women who have accused the comedian of sexual assault after a federal judge in MA batted back an effort by her attorneys to stop the deposition in the defamation lawsuit.

As of Sunday night, Camille Cosby’s deposition was expected to go forward at 9 a.m.in Springfield, Massachusetts. However, defense lawyers filed an emergency motion late Saturday requesting it be delayed, saying she “has had no involvement with the facts or allegations underlying this case”. The motion further argued that her testimony would foster “an unnecessary media circus and personal security threat that serves no objective other than to harass and embarrass her”.
More than 50 women have come forward nationally to accuse the 78-year-old television legend of sexual assault in allegations spanning decades, and yet Camille has stuck by her man. The couple have been married 52 years.
Camille Cosby had long argued that she has no information that would be pertinent to the case against her husband.
The lawyer for the women was ecstatic at the prospect of questioning Mrs. Cosby in a deposition.
Lawyers for the Cosbys attempted to quash the deposition subpoena, arguing that Camille Cosby does not have any relevant information. Camille Cosby has been actively fighting being forced to testify against her husband, even filing a motion to delay being deposed pending an appeal.
Cosby, best known for his stand-up comedy and his starring role on NBC’s “The Cosby Show”, was formally indicted a year ago in a criminal case surrounding the alleged sexual assault of a woman in 2005. Cammarata says, “I intend to do what I need to do for my clients”. She continues the deposition on March 14, but the location hasn’t been determined.
“Those statements denied Cosby had sexually assaulted the women, and called their reliability into question”.
There had been no sighting of Camille Cosby before the session apparently began.
Camille Cosby is also her husband’s business manager, so prosecutors could press her for insight into how past allegations against Cosby were handled.
