Though Fredette ran the triangle offense in Westchester, Rambis has enough wrinkles in the system that he’s been huddling with the assistant coaches since Sunday night going over tape.

“My mood? Yeah, I need to go home and just relax”, a frustrated but polite Anthony said. “He’s got to be keyed in to where everyone’s supposed to be”. Hence, Rambis said he could find himself in some defensive mismatches. “Decompress a little bit”. “He’s going to have to use his speed and quickness against someone who’s a lot taller and stronger”.

“He’s had some good offensive nights there, he’s also struggled shooting the basketball”, he said. “He’s had some moments in the league, and he is somebody that can shoot the ball. It’s really hard to just throw somebody in like that”. Indeed, Fredette’s mysteriously large coterie of fans seem a lot more excited than the Knicks coaches. I’ve been hearing about what’s he’s doing down there in the D-League but I haven’t seen him play in action for a long time.

“You can’t control that”, Anthony added of all the changes in NY since his arrival.

“I appreciate all the attention and the media the fans and everything that comes along with this”, he said. Whatever the case, Anthony, who usually takes his time to get out of the locker room, was dressed and ready to go when reporters entered the room.

Fredette was called up from the NBA Development League, where has played in 30 games for the Westchester Knicks this season, averaging 36.2 minutes, 21.8 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. The Raptors maintained a double-digit lead over the last two quarters, frustrating the Knicks in their triangle offense.

Fredette’s parents made the trek down the Thruway for the game.

Fredette’s only movement in the first half was from the bench to a spot on the floor, depending on the availability of seats for the reserves. The Knicks will be playing five games during the course of Fredette’s contract with four games at Madison Square Garden against the Raptors, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers, and one road game against the Indiana Pacers.
