Developers Can Now Build Apps Directly Into Cyanogen OS
With this move, app developers will get an opportunity to partner Cyanogen and get their mods on the platform. The platform will roll out for devices that are on Cyanogen OS 13.0 and higher. With the implementation of mods, developers can take their apps to its maximum potential by creating a deeper integration with the OS. The company is launching the “Mods” platform, a way to build apps “directly into the OS”.

Via Cyanogen’s MOD platform, developers like Microsoft can take advantage of the core platform programming interfaces within the Cyanogen OS. You can also install the Cortana mod so some voice-activated functionalities can be built-in, like using a voice command to take selfies.
Aside from Microsoft, Cyanogen also announced a partnership with Truecaller, so MOD users will be able to install this application for spam messaging. But Cyanogen has long offered a closer-to-stock version of Android that is customized through the open-source CyanogenMod. Ever since it’s incorporation a few years ago and its launch as CyanogenOS on many dedicated phones on the market, the team at Cyanogen has been working on developing new features that users will hopefully find worthy of gracing their phones.
But while Cyanogen and its partners keep hailing this launch as a revolutionary beginning to a new age, where the user can achieve and do more, quicker and easier than ever, we can’t help but wonder what the drawbacks are, especially in terms of security.
Recently, Cyanogen has expanded its efforts to distinguish its own branch of Android, leading to many spectators claiming it is trying to steal it away from Google. The result are streamlined experiences that exist outside of individual apps.
MOD Ready Brings Speed and Scale to OEMs and MNOs To accelerate time-to-market for devices running MOD, Cyanogen has created MOD Ready, a scaling program that enables OEMs and MNOs to rapidly launch phones across a broad range of chipset platforms.
If you like having some extra control over your phone’s OS, then you probably have an Android device.
Cyanogen also has a mod for both Skype and Cortana – pretty understandable considering the maker of these two – Microsoft – is a major investor in Cyanogen.

Cyanogen has found a rather interesting partner in Microsoft, for some of their first mods. With a rapidly growing global user base and a vibrant community of developers, we’re intelligently connecting smartphone and tablet consumers to people, apps, and things they love.
