Samsung Unveils New 360-Degree Camera

During the Mobile World Congress 2016, Samsung Elecronics did not only reveal its flagship smartphones Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but also the Samsung Gear 360.

The Samsung phones has a thicker battery, made with water resistant and comes with a microSD card slot, features missing from the S6 line.

Finally, it’s here. After countless rumors, speculations, leaks, and reports, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship is now official. The screen is the same 5.1-inch, QHD, Super AMOLED offering – which, to be fair, can’t really be improved upon – and the body is the same as the S6, only with more high-tech-looking metal panels. Once again, the two devices will be shipped with Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box, while the S7 and S7 edge will be powered by 3000mAh and 3600mAh batteries respectively. That’s a big boost and should help Samsung address the battery-life shortcomings of the S6 edge.

This feature was omitted from all the major flagships previous year and had disappointed many Samsung smartphone loyalists.

Vodafone will also start taking pre-orders of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones from February 26. Samsung also unveiled the new Gear 360 camera for filming VR stills and videos.

While the S7 Edge going up to 5.5 inches is not everyone’s cup of tea, it boasts the 3,600mAh while the standard 5.1-inch S7 has 3,000mAh. One can notice the similarities of the Galaxy S7 to the Galaxy S6. “It’s not so similar to where you’d get the two devices confused with one another, but Samsung did a good job at making minor tweaks to ensure it stuck with the same design language this year”. The new models of the Galaxy phones are waterproof, so it’s not the end of the world if the S7 or the S7 Edge falls into a koi pond, kitchen sink, or bowl of soup (not that that’s happened or anything). Gear 360 users can take videos and images and preview them using a dedicated mobile application. The new phones developed by the South Korean company come with plenty of upgrades over their predecessors, including an Always On feature for the display.
