Volvo V40 updated globally, India arrival later this year

The most significant incorporation on these new cars has to be Volvo’s “Thor’s Hammer” headlights and doing so, the cars have joined the lineup of company’s other models, like the XC90 SUV and S90 luxury sedan, which also share the same design philosophy.

A total of eight new wheel designs along with five new exterior colours will also be available with the facelifted Volvo V40. The vehicle gets new upholstery design called City Weave which will be complimented with a new Charcoal/Blond steering wheel option. Additionally, prospective buyers will also be offered the option of interior panel trims in milled, black grid or stealth aluminum.

As for the technological features, the V40 will look to come with a new infotainment system that will have support for Apple Watch and Android Wear. Accent trim colours in the door inserts will now be offered with contrasting stitching and for the first time a black headliner will be available as an option in the V40.

Apart from the new textiles, Carbon dioxide emissions on the manual D2 diesel variant have now been reduced to an impressive 89g/km, depending on the tyres fitted. This allows for voice control when using Windows 10-based smartphones. “With the updates for model year 201, we make this already very successful model even more attractive to customers in the segment”, said Björn Annwall, senior vice president, Sales, marketing and customer service at Volvo Car Group.

The Volvo V40 has always been one of the more interesting-looking premium hatchbacks.

The updated Volvo V40 will be shown in full at the Geneva Motor Show, with prices expected to remain the same for the tweaked model range.
