Metallica Named 2016 Record Store Day Ambassadors

The album is called Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! and features nine songs recorded at Le Bataclan in Paris, the same venue that 89 people lost their lives in last November. In a YouTube video released on Tuesday, each of the four members speak about their love for vinyl and the importance of record stores.

“Independent record stores are part of Metallica’s DNA”.

Metallica announced that they were the official ambassadors for Record Store Day 2016 and this live album is their official release.

The group earned the title rightfully so with the results of Record Store Day 2015.

For now, let’s all get ready for another great Saturday in April, when we celebrate the culture of the independent record store with Metallica.

Organizers of Record Store Day, a US-based initiative that has gone global and is known as “Disquaire Day” in France, said they planned to highlight the connections between U.S. and French “music-loving humans” for the 2016 edition.

The ambassador for Record Store Day 2015 was Dave Grohl, who followed Jack White in 2014.

The band said in a statement: “We had the thrill of kicking off the very first Record Store Day by meeting many of you at an in-store appearance at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, CA in April of 2008”.

BBC Music is also partnering up with Record Store Day this year with special radio shows across the BBC, in particular on 6 Music.
