Two moderate GOP senators, Susan Collins of ME and Mark Kirk of IL, said Monday that the Senate should consider a nominee, and Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, had said last week he might hold hearings on a nominee.

He made the case for the hypocrisy of the Republicans who “say time and time again that the Constitution is their Bible” and go after President Obama when he issues executive orders that usurp the legislative powers given to the Congress by the Constitution. “It’s the Senate’s right to decide when, whether, how to confirm someone”.
Senators should do their job and expeditiously do the right thing in acting on President Obama’s nomination.

Keylin pointed to remarks Obama made in a February 16 news conference several hours after Tillis’ radio interview.

President Obama will nominate a highly qualified replacement for Scalia, one who will see the Constitution as a living document, not one frozen in time, as seen by Scalia.
When asked if reporters can then assume Obama will nominate a moderate, the president disagreed.
Keylin said Tillis “is following the Joe Biden rule”, a term Republicans have used after it was discovered that then-Sen.
