Sony introduces X series phones with good, better, best specs

The Xperia XA is clearly the cheapest phone of the bunch, and it lacks some of the features available on the higher-end models.

Sony surprised us by launching an all-new series of smartphones at its press conference at MWC 2016 in Barcelona on 22 February. It remains unclear whether Sony will continue with the existing Z-Series in parallel, but we must note that HTC, for example, has the M and A series phone line-ups that work well as a team. Apart from the smartphone models, the Japanese company has the Xperia Ear, Xperia Eye and the Xperia Projector as its all-new connected devices.

Sony claims this projected image will respond to touch, voice and gestures just as someone would interact with your smartphone screen.

The Xperia X series includes the Xperia X Performance, the Xperia X and the Xperia.

The precise dimensions of the Xperia X Performance are set at 144.8 x 71.1 x 7.6mm and it weighs 164.4g. Three Sony Xperia X series phones will launch this summer, and they’ll all have 5 inch displays.

Sony is redefining the Xperia brand.

The runt of the litter is the Xperia XA, which features a 720p display, octa-core MediaTek MT6755 SoC, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD slot, 13MP Exmor RX rear camera, 8MP selfie camera, and a 2300mAh battery. Both phones runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Xperia X Performance (above) is the top-of-the-line creme-de-la-creme of the new Xperia X family.

This morning Sony has launched the Xperia X series of Android smartphones, the first couple of which, the Sony Xperia X and Xperia XA, places them firmly in the mid-range. It features a 23 megapixel rear camera and 13 megapixel front camera. The phones are available in Graphite black, White, Lime Gold and Rose Gold colour variants.

Additionally, Sony is in development to release its personalised assistant called the Xperia Agent. With the exception of the processor, the rest of the Xperia X Performance’s specs are shared with the Xperia X.
