Earlier, the singer also picked up the award for British single of the year for her song Hello and best British female artist.

It was a successful night for both Justin Bieber and James Bay, who won International Male Solo Artist and British Male Solo artist, respectively.

The All I Ask singer couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with emotion after being named the victor of the global success award, which celebrates her record-breaking achievements including scoring the fastest video to reach one billion views on Vevo with Hello.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she said: ‘I feel a bit worn out emotionally.

“This album was really hard to make, it was, and I think I was a nightmare sometimes so thank you, and thank you for our lovely son, who is the love of my life”.

On February 19, a New York State Supreme Court judge denied Kesha’s request for an injunction that would’ve allowed her to continue recording music outside of her contract with Dr. Luke, her alleged abuser and rapist.

On her final visit to the stage, the singer had tears in her eyes as she thanked her young family for their continued support.

Also performing at the star-studded event was Lorde, who delivered a touching tribute to David Bowie with a cover of “Like on Mars?”

This year’s show was short on surprises – apart from Bjork beating bigger-selling artists to female worldwide artist of the year – but strong on spectacle, with an opening number featuring dozens of dancers in red helmets and skirts that suggested flamenco centurions.
