Once Republicans are faced with an actual candidate instead of an “abstraction”, Obama said, opposition might soften.

“Voting on nominees is part of the job of being a senator, and if politicians in Washington have a problem with that they should find a new line of work”, she said. “But let’s see how the public responds to the nominee that we put forward”.
Obama will meet with McConnell, Reid, Grassley and Sen. He offered no reason for his decision.
Though the review process is in its initial phases and it is unclear whether the governor could ultimately emerge as the president’s pick, even the prospect of his nomination poses a hard dilemma for Senate Republicans who have promised not to consider any nomination before November’s elections. “Act II is Republicans across the country feeling the heat from the American people”.
And he predicted that their current position on the vacancy on the Supreme Court caused by the death of Antonin Scalia would be no different. Moreover, he is looking for someone whose aim is to interpret the law rather than making the law.
“I seek judges who approach decisions without any particular ideology or agenda, but rather a commitment to impartial justice, a respect for precedent, and a determination to faithfully apply the law to the facts at hand”, Obama said.
“The Constitution is clear”, Hanna said in a statement.
The President wrote in the article that he will nominate a justice “in the weeks ahead”.
Sandoval, 52, is long believed to harbor interest in someday serving on the Supreme Court.
“Does it become an issue about who he nominates? But they won’t. Democrats are going to fight every day to ensure that this important nominee gets a dignified confirmation process that past Senates have afforded all Supreme Court nominations”, Reid said, adding that Senate Democrats would continue to press their case. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) pointed to Sandoval as a possible choice for Obama, the governor said, “It would be a privilege”.
Greg Stohr, Supreme Court reporter for Bloomberg News. Al Franken, D-Minn., joined Blumenthal, Murphy, and Schumer in accepting petitions said to have more than one million signatures urging action on an Obama nominee.

A spokesman for Sandoval said neither the governor nor his staff had been contacted by the Obama administration regarding the Supreme Court vacancy, according to CNN.
