Libya’s interim government issued a statement saying that it “strongly condemns the airstrikes carried out by the US Air Force at certain positions in the town of Sabratha on Friday morning, February 19, 2016, without any coordination or consultation with the interim Libyan government”.
“At this point, we feel good that both were taken out in this strike”, he said, adding that while the number of deaths is yet to be determined, a significant number of ISIL fighters were there at the time.
“According to the photos and gathered analysis, people were killed by explosions during an airstrike”.
The airstrike was the second by USA in Libya.
The mayor of the Libyan city of Sabratha, Hussein al-Thwadi, told Reuters the planes struck at 3:30 am (0130 GMT), hitting a building in the city’s Qasr Talil district, home to many foreigners.
An AFP photographer saw four large holes he said were probably caused by missiles.
Cook said Tunisian officials in May 2015 had named Chouchane as a suspect in a March 18, 2015, attack on the Bardo Museum in Tunis in which 22 people died.
U.S. led airstrikes killed 43 in Libya on Friday, including a Tunisian terrorist who allegedly was plotting an attack.
The jets targeted positions of the self-styled Islamic State group (IS) in the city of Sabratha.
“We are assessing the results of the operation”, said Col. Mark Cheadle, spokesman for the Pentagon’s Africa Command.
“It’s an indication that the president will not hesitate to take these kinds of forceful, decisive actions”, Earnest said.
He said the strike showed the USA will target IS “whenever it is necessary”.
The incident comes a day after USA forces launched an air strike on a suspected militant camp in the western part of the country. She confirmed that Serbia had been informed by the Pentagon that the specific location where they were believed to be held had been bombed.
“This action is a clear demonstration of the secretary’s continued commitment to go after ISIL’s metastases wherever they emerge”, Cook said, adding that the strike was fully consistent with the broader USA campaign plan to counter ISIL and prevent new safe havens.
IS has exploited the turmoil in Libya since the overthrow of dictator Moamer Kadhafi five years ago, raising fears that it is establishing a new stronghold on Europe’s doorstep.
He also believe that the ambassador also came under the attack near the coastal Libyan city of Sabra. These have been concentrated in Iraq and Syria, where the Islamist extremist group has established its biggest foothold and has its de facto capital in Raqqa.
The alliance has established its own administration and parliament called the General National Congress.

He announced that the incident will not influence relations with the United States because their deterioration would not bring Stankovic and Stepic back to life, while “Serbia needs United States as a partner and friend and not as an enemy”.
