JM Eagle offers to replace lead pipe in Flint, Mich., for free
Senators voted to send the final version of the legislation to Snyder a day after a University of Michigan Flint professor said the city has more than 8,000 old lead pipes running from water mains to homes and businesses.

Legislative leaders on Tuesday announced a joint state House and Senate committee to review reports on what happened in Flint and make policy recommendations to avoid a similar crisis in the future.
Not the only guilty party: Poster offers a $5,000 reward for “citizen arrest” of Michigan Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, whose officials played a key role in the Flint water crisis.
State officials led by Gov. Rick Snyder have called for some lead line replacement in Flint after the condition of the system has been assessed and the location of lead lines determined. The number of infants and children with elevated levels of lead reportedly doubled after Flint changed water sources in April 2014 in what was supposed to be cost-cutting move.
On its Twitter account, JM Eagle recently has been posting support for Flint residents – “everyone has the right to clean water” – as well as warnings to other cities – “America is Flint”.
As of today, residents still are advised not to drink the water without using a lead filter, and Snyder and Flint Mayor Karen Weaver are tussling over how quickly lead service lines in Flint must be dug up and replaced. About 25,000 are not lead while another 10,000 are unknown and will need to be individually inspected, according to Snyder’s office. The estimates do not include vacant properties.
Days after the floor debate broke down, Democrats offered a very different version of their initial proposal, which would have provided states $60 million to secure up to $600 million worth of loans under an existing federal program for water infrastructure financing.
Those emails will date back to 2011. Eleven percent of 175 samples exceeded the actionable level, including five homes above 100 parts per billion of lead.
The data is being collected over the next seven weeks.
Getting a tattoo is a deeply personal experience for many, but one tattoo artist in MI found a way to make it a charitable act as well. “They’re paying a water bill, but with the water not being safe, you know, why are they paying for it?”
