Barcelona aren’t through to quarters yet: Messi

“I thought we did really well until the first goal”.

With the confidence that came with winning the first leg of this game comfortably, Arsenal stand a very good chance of earning a great result. I’m delighted with the result.

The major criticism that has been leveled against Arsenal over the last decade has been that they’re just not strong or organized enough defensively.

The task facing Arsene Wenger’s men was a daunting one, with current European champions Barcelona on a 32-match unbeaten run spanning back to October.

“Obviously you will never manage to keep them quite for 90 minutes, that’s for sure, but we managed to work well in the first half with good chances”.

“Looking back now it is one of the most important conversations of my life, but that is Stevie, he was a captain who was always ready to give his players advice”.

Arsenal had done well to largely negate the threat of Messi, as well as his attacking partners Luis Suarez and Neymar, for most of the opening 70 minutes before the Argentinian struck twice. “That was a disappointing moment for everyone and we couldn’t get over it”.

Legendary Brazilian footballer Cafu believes that his compatriot Neymar has already surpassed Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to technical ability. However, one defensive lapse in midfield opened the door for Barcelona to launch a counter attack, and a team of the Catalans’ quality does not need many opportunities before they take one. With Barcelona in such a mood, it is hard to see any team stopping them defending their Champions League crown this year.

Gerard Pique will miss the second leg through suspension after picking up a late caution in Tuesday night’s clash.

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique had said ahead of the game he simply had to say “abracadabra” and his front three of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar would weave their magic.

“It was a pity”.

Assuming Elneny is being highly rated because of performances in Europe rather than in the Swiss league, why on earth can he not get a game when Wenger has just paid millions of pounds to bring him to the Emirates?
