First Images of Dragon Quest Builders Released
The first in-game screenshots for Square Enix’s take on Minecraft, Dragon Quest Builders, have been released. The players will gather materials like wood, rock, plant-life, fruit, and slime to rebuild Alefgard and protect the kingdom from monsters.

The game is a free-to-play game that features character customization, as well as a focus on exploration and battling.
“Huh? Dragon Quest through the lens of Minecraft?” You can view more of the game over on its official website.
In Builders this means that while there’s definitely a crafting element in place it’s also clear that the combat and general adventuring side of things is more Dragon Quest than Minecraft in nature. This time around, there are both male and female versions of the hero, designed by series artist Akira Toriyama, who have the ability to create items out of nearly anything. If Square Enix can go back to the roots of Dragon Quest on this then Builders could work.
