Three people were killed and 14 others were injured after a gunman, whom police identified as Cedric Ford, opened fire in three locations, including the Excel Industries plant where he worked.

The police chief in Hesston, Kansas, is being credited with chasing and fatally shooting a man suspected of killing three people and wounding 15 others during a shooting rampage at a local factory.
All of those killed and all but two of those wounded Thursday were struck in and around the building of the gunman’s employer, a lawn care equipment manufacturer in Hesston, Kansas, authorities said.
She had a Newton police officer go with her in August 2015 to retrieve the guns from the house, but she returned them later that same month “because Ford had threatened her”, according to the affidavit. Another post Tuesday is accompanied a YouTube video of Billy Blue’s Get Like Me, which features the rapper Brisco.
Excel Industries was founded in Hesston in 1960. Three people shot at the factory were killed.
Ford had been served a protection from abuse order just 90 minutes before the first shooting, according to The Associated Press. Walton said between 200 and 300 people were in the factory at the time, and the “shooter wasn’t done by any means when Schroeder chased and shot him. And I wish I didn’t have to keep on talking about it. Lord knows I wish I didn’t have to make these phone calls and comfort families”, he said. Police said he injured 14 others throughout Harvey County in other shootings before he was killed in a shootout with police. Hopkins told officers on Friday that she gave the weapons to Ford in August because he had threatened her. ‘He was seen entering the building with an assault-style long gun’. Sadowsky’s sister, who also worked at the lawnmower parts plant, could hear the gunfire. His past offenses included burglary, grand theft, fleeing from an officer, aggravated fleeing, carrying a concealed weapon, all from Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Driver is shot. Ford takes victim’s vehicle.
The carnage left people grasping for answers in Hesston, a small city of about 3,700 people located about 35 miles north of Wichita.
Ford was required to take an anger-management class in Harvey County in 2008 after he was convicted of disorderly conduct, according to The Hutchinson News. At that point, the shooter got a different gun and Martin took off running.
“It’s normal when someone gets served a protection of abuse order” to be upset, Walton said this morning, explaining that Ford’s behavior wasn’t abnormal when he was served.
He says such orders are typically served “because there’s some type of violence in a relationship”, but he declined to specify the nature of the relationship in question or to disclose the attacker’s name.
