Colombia has registered 42,706 cases of people infected with Zika, including 7,653 in pregnant women, the country’s National Health Institute reported on Saturday.
According to officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday, the US territory is quickly becoming a hotbed for the Zika outbreak.

Research also is underway into a possible link between Zika and a paralyzing condition in adults called Guillain-Barre.
The CDC said the Zika outbreak in Brazil is “dynamic” and that it will continue to monitor the situation and will adjust these recommendations as needed.

So far, more than 80 Zika infections have been diagnosed in the USA, and all have involved people who traveled to outbreak regions.
