The Edmonton Oilers have traded goaltender Anders Nilsson to the St. Louis Blues for a fifth-round draft pick.

In the meantime, Edmonton has recalled goaltender Laurent Brossoit from the Bakersfield Condors and will likely fill a backup role with the team going forward. Jake Allen, who returned Monday after missing 17 games with a lower-body injury, took over the No. 1 goaltending duties with Elliott sidelined. It is expected for Lundstrom to join the Condors and play with the AHL club for this season and possibly longer.

Nilsson is a National Hockey League veteran of three seasons, spending two of those with the New York Islanders. He has already spent some time in the AHL this season, playing 2 games for Bakersfield earlier this month, with no waivers required in his situation. The Oilers system is barren of goalie prospects so Ludstrom is a nice addition.

Lundstrom was a fifth-round selection by the Blues in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. 929 save mark with Elmira and was 1-1-0 with a 2.75 GAA and a. 901 save percentage with Chicago.

But enough about the Blues. Down on the farm, Eetu Laurikainen projects to be the starter with the newly-acquired Lundstrom apt to be wearing a ballcap a lot of nights.
