NFL Combine 2016: Day 3 winners and losers begin with Ezekiel Elliott

In his first of two runs in the 40-yard dash, Elliott ran an unofficial time of 4.46 seconds, which was almost one-tenth of a second better than the first run of former University of Alabama running back Derrick Henry, who guided the Crimson Tide to the National Championship with a Heisman Trophy-winning 2015 season.

“I think he’s going to have a very solid career in this league”, Kiper said.

Instead, Elliott turned those comments into an opportunity to build on his vast talent and give his future coaches something more to like.

The Cowboys, at No. 4, had running back issues past year, and it wouldn’t hurt to have Elliott enter as Greg Hardy exits.

Unofficially, Elliott finished with the 11th-best 40-yard dash time of all the running backs who elected to participate in the drill.

Mayock: If you’re going to draft Derrick Henry, there’s got to be a commitment to the run game, and there has to be the infrastructure to get it done…If you’re Carolina, at No. 30, that would make a ton of sense to me. I’ve said it a bunch of times before but some of my favorite plays of him were of him blocking people or cutting people.

Keep it here throughout the day for live coverage of the NFL Combine 2016. He’s going a million miles an hour and whoever is ahead of him is going to get hit. I think that’s kind of different for the running back position from other guys I’ve seen, ” Decker said of Elliott. Michael Irvin is the guy that always talks about – you never get better later in a game, you’re better when you first start – well, this kid defied that.

That distinction nearly universally goes to Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott.

Davis: “I think that there is a running back renaissance occurring in football, even in the NFL”.

Ezekiel Elliott wasn’t bashful about criticizing the offensive play-calling after Ohio State suffered its only loss of the season to Michigan State in November.

“When you’re 7 you run a wishbone, so fullback is a fullback, but he’s not really a true I fullback”.

“I would tell them that I’ve grown up a lot since then”, Elliott said. I value blocking more than anything. “I think I have great hands out of the backfield”.
