Seth Rogen is throwing James Franco a bar mitzvah

Rogen – who did attend Hebrew school and become bar mitzvah growing up in Vancouver – wants everyone to wish Franco a big mazel tov.

For Rogen, whose mother in law was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 55, the event is personal.

Ever since I’ve known James, he’s been talking about wanting a bar mitzvah”, Seth Rogen said in a statement, Variety reported.

Tickets to the event, which Rogen said could include a mohel and “a live bris for James”, go on sale on August 11. The lineup of performers has yet to be announced, but previous shows have included Bruno Mars, Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Mindy Kaling and Aziz Ansari.

Rogen plays computer pioneer Steve Wozniak in the upcoming biopic Steve Jobs, opening nationwide October 9.

James Franco may be 37, but he isn’t yet a man in the Jewish tradition: The popular actor never had a bar mitzvah.

Rogen’s annual Hilarity for Charity benefit raises money to battle Alzheimer’s Disease. Last year’s prom-themed bash raised $1 million. “It was through this that we felt we weren’t just complaining there was nothing to be done but actively taking steps to do something”.

Lauren added: “Five million Americans are now living with the disease and it is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., yet it is the least funded and the only one with no treatment whatsoever. I hope we’re able to capture the attention of more young people, and get the disease the type of funding it deserves”.
