South Carolina Democrats vote Saturday, but candidates look ahead to Tuesday
Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is endorsing Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s presidential campaign. Her victory, called by the networks and The Associated Press seconds after polls closed, was a show of force in the region. “She’ll continue to move us forward and not move us backward as opposed to Republicans who want to strike things back”, from Obama’s health care overhaul to early voting, said Glover, who is African-American. “Sanders on running a great race, and tomorrow, this campaign goes national”. “If all of you come out to vote and you bring your friends and your neighbours and your co-workers, we are going to win here in Texas”.

Putting South Carolina behind him, upon his arrival in Rochester, Minnesota, Saturday night, he gave a campaign speech of more than 50 minutes to cheering supporters – and never mentioned the day’s events. As the results rolled in on Saturday, he was scheduled to hold a rally in the “Super Tuesday” state of Minnesota.
Following his win in New Hampshire earlier this month, Sanders told CBS News’ Scott Pelley that he had a “strong chance” in Nevada and SC.
At the same time, Sanders commented that the issue of how many delegates he can win in SC is not his primary focus.
With Super Tuesday looming, Florida Sen.
The win for Clinton is huge heading into Super Tuesday, March 1, where several states will hold primary elections.
Clinton is looking to win big in Southern states with large black populations, while Sanders is likely to post victories in the Midwest and Northeast states. Clinton lost the state overwhelmingly to Obama in a heated contest in which her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was seen by some as questioning the legitimacy of the black presidential contender. But throngs of voters Saturday returned to the Clinton fold thanks partly to an expansive get-out-the-vote effort her campaign built over nearly a year.
In interviews here on Saturday, voters – black and white – said they were supporting Clinton. “We will defeat Trump because the American people do not want a president who insults Mexicans and Muslims, who insults women and African-Americans and veterans, and basically anybody who is not like Donald Trump”. “You can change the future of America by voting for Hillary”. Sanders cut Clinton’s lead in half since a November 2015 poll showed Clinton ahead by 52.7 points.
“It’s Hillary’s turn now”, she said.
Going into South Carolina, Clinton had just a one-delegate edge over Sanders. Bertrand Brown, a security officer, headed to the polls without making up his mind. He said Sanders’ stance on free tuition sounds good, but he doesn’t believe it. “I would love tuition to be free, but how?” “The Clintons just had a light years’ advantage”.
“I think we have a strong foothold right now given the wackiness that’s going on on the other side”, he said.
With more than 95 percent of the votes counted in South Carolina, Clinton led Sanders by a 48-point margin, dramatically reversing her 28-point loss in the state to President Barack Obama during their bitter 2008 primary battle.

In South Carolina, his plans to address wealth inequality and improve access to education and healthcare have attracted interest. “The Clintons have been a brand here for so long”. “Now it’s on to Super Tuesday”, he said in a statement.
