Hillary Clinton scores commanding win in SC primary
“Our grass roots political revolution is growing state by state, and we won’t stop”.

On the Republican side, billionaire Donald Trump leads a field that has dwindled to five from 12 a month ago.
“Thank you. Thank you”.
Clinton’s camp was hoping a big win in SC, after more narrow victories in Iowa and Nevada and Sanders’ clear win in New Hampshire, will set her up for a big night on Tuesday, when about 875 delegates will be up for grabs, more than one-third of those needed to win the nomination. She won an overwhelming share of both the male and female vote – 68% of men and 79% of women voted for her. But women comprised a much larger share of SC primary voters – 39% of voters were men, and 61% were women.
Sanders continued to do well with young voters, his most passionate supporters.
SC was the first contest in which a majority of the electorate had been made up of minority voters, and Clinton won black voters handily.
Super Tuesday primaries include those in Alabama, Arkansas where Clinton was active as Gov. Bill Clinton’s wife; Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee and Vermont, where Sanders has been a longtime us senator and served as mayor of Burlington.
CNN reported that its exit polls showed Clinton won the African American vote 84-16 percent.
Sanders was outmatched in SC, where being a self-proclaimed democratic socialist failed to win over voters in the centrist state. At a campaign victory party in Columbia, supporters broke into raucous cheers as the race was called in Clinton’s favour.
Add Hillary Clinton to the list of presidential candidates who will be in Memphis this weekend ahead of Super Tuesday. “We are not taking anything, and we are not taking anyone, for granted”.
“We have now gone through four early states and I want to congratulate Bernie sanders on running a great race”, Clinton said. That’s his wheelhouse, and he won only 30 percent of their vote.
Even with a win all-but-guaranteed, Clinton’s campaign sees SC as an important jumpstart heading into a busy March. Clinton did especially well among black women voters, winning 89 percent of their support compared to Sanders’s 11.
The victory marks an impressive moment of redemption for Clinton who in 2008 lost badly in the state to Barack Obama – his win here serving as a turning point for his ultimately victorious campaign.
As she attempts to extend her delegate lead over Sanders, and Sanders tries to regroup from two successive losses, the landscape ahead is strongly in Clinton’s favor.
As he indicated in a brief statement from the steps of his plane on his arrival in Minnesota, Sanders, who left SC early in the day to campaign in Texas, must now find some success on Super Tuesday, particularly in the southern states.
Hillary Clinton threw in subtle shots at Donald Trump in a victory speech amid a blowout win in the SC primary Saturday.
So what did we learn from events in the Palmetto State, and where does the Democratic presidential race go from here? “This campaign is just beginning”, Sanders said.
“Instead of building walls, we need to tear down barriers”, Clinton said. Most of the coverage I’ve seen has suggested that, sure, Hillary is going to win, but she’s really being pressed in the black community and Bernie could do better than expected.

Even under the rosiest scenarios for Sanders, it will be hard for him to catch Clinton on Super Tuesday.
