Apple’s next hardware event reportedly moved from March 15 to March 21

The Apple news and rumors for February 26 include a big win for Samsung in the Apple patent case, a new 4-inch iPhone SE, and a new iPad Pro instead of an iPad Air 3.

For some time, it was believed that Apple’s upcoming 4-inch iPhone was going to be called the iPhone 5se, a seemingly fitting name given that the device was being positioned as a souped up iPhone 5s.

Apple was earlier rumored to be preparing for a special event in March and according to a report in 9to5Mac, the date the company is preparing for is March 15.

A couple of leaked images, which purportedly claims to be the design of the upcoming iPhone 5SE, has smartphone critics divided on whether the latest Apple gadget looks like an iPhone 5S or an iPhone 6. It might be harder to push an iPhone 5-anything to potential customers when they could also pick up an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6s. The 5se’s specs feature an A9 chip adoption, improved camera module, NFC chip for Apple Pay and Live Photos compatibility. The smallest version of the latest iPhone model, the iPhone 6s, has a 4.7-inch screen. But don’t throw away your iPhone 6S just yet – as this device is rather different.

The diagram shows dimensions similar to the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s.

It’s being reported today in a new supply chain report that “Sales performance of major suppliers in the iPhone 6s device supply chain is likely to stay flat in the first half of 2016 due to decreased orders from Apple”.

Apple is reportedly holding a press conference to announce the new phone, among other things, sometime in the middle of March.

While investors should keep in mind that reports of a smaller, mid-cycle iPhone are still only rumors at this point, it does make sense that Apple would launch the device. The event is also expected to be the place where Apple will release newer macbooks, as well as details on the Apple Watch 2.

Recent reports reveal that Apple is looking into new storage options, up to 256GB for the iPhone 7 Plus, but it is not clear if Apple will jump past the current 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.
