At a Hollywood party honoring the women nominated for Oscars at this weekend’s ceremony, Oscar-winners Jennifer Lawrence and Patricia Arquette shined a spotlight on an issue affecting women all over the country.

Jennifer admitted to a serious case of nerves as she spoke right after fellow actress and women’s rights advocate Patricia Arquette, who talked to the audience about her change.org petition, which was created to urge lawmakers to vote to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

“Pay equality affects women so drastically in America,”Arquette said while speaking in front of the guests of the Ninth Annual Women in Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party in Los Angeles”.

She said: ‘When I wrote that essay I got a lot of support but I also have a Republican family in Kentucky who told me my career was effectively over’. We’re getting dialogue going.

The 25-year-old actress, who has already sparked a debate on equal pay in the movie industry, took to the stage with Women In Film LA president Cathy Schulman and made an impromptu speech, Entertainment Tonight reports. I’m going to that.

The impact of Arquette’s speech, along with the challenges still ahead before her cause of true sexual equality is achieved, were the focus of an intimate “Dinner for Equality”, co-hosted by Arquette and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff at a private home in the Hancock Park section of Los Angeles. Other stars in attendance included Alicia Silverstone, Michelle Monaghan, Sasha Alexander, Diane Warren, Maria Bello, Lake Bell, Carrie Preston and Maggie Grace. Because of this fact, fans certainly can’t wait on how the adorable Jennifer will look in the red carpet of this year’s Oscars.
