Sessions is the first senator to endorse Trump. It’s the first time Sessions, a Republican, has endorsed a presidential candidate, Trump said, adding that that Senator is just the sort of person with whom he wants to work.
Trump called Sessions “a surprise” before introducing Sessions.
The importance of Sessions’ endorsement has been noted before. “Jeff Sessions? That means a lot”. It was literally a page from the Sessions playbook: Trump wrote the plan with the input of the Alabama senator.
In 2014, Sessions was in line to take over as key of the powerful Senate Budget Committee.
Immediately after Sessions’ endorsement, Black Lives Matter protesters began to protest.
The Alabama senator then advised Trump as he crafted and ultimately published proposals to reform the US immigration system.
By contrast, the Sessions endorsement will signal to many conservatives – and not just in the South – that Trump is, indeed, all right.
“Some people are good, some people are okay, and some people are lousy”, Trump said. As a result, he’s heralded as a hero in the conservative anti-immigration community. For months Trump has been the outsider of the campaign, dominating the field even without the support of major party donors or the big-name endorsements that most of his opponents had.
The Sessions endorsement also comes as Cruz and Sen. We now have and will soon have a vote on the Transpacific Partnership, Obamatrade, and it will damage America. “There is a movement afoot that must not fade away”. I think of a great man, who am I talking about? “There is no more respected man in Congress and we are closely aligned on many issues, including trade and illegal immigration, and I am proud to consider Jeff Sessions an advisor, friend and ally”. Probably not, but I’m at least as confident that it wouldn’t be passed in a Ted Cruz presidency.
It comes as a blow to the Ted Cruz campaign, as they had been actively courting the senator. Trump is leading in polls in the state.
The endorsements came as Trump heads into Super Tuesday with what seems to be unstoppable momentum. “Mr. Trump is that leader”.
Trump’s campaign has been likened to a sideshow and in many ways it is. The American people have known for years these trade agreements have not been working for them. “Donald Trump will do it”.

“That is so great. They serve you and we haven’t had enough of that”, Sessions said, before ceding the stage to Trump.
Stephen Miller, who had been a top aide to Sessions, signed on with Trump’s campaign in January as a senior adviser and has been traveling with the candidate to recent debates. That change over can’t be underestimated for either Sessions or Trump.
