Two women experienced the virus during their second trimester of pregnancy. United States soccer player Hope Solo said Thursday she was unlikely to join her teammates for the Rio Olympic Games without more information about the virus.

Meanwhile, the CDC has released the following guidelines for Zika and pregnant women. The vast majority-107-were travelers who brought the disease home.

In a tweet Friday afternoon, the CDC advised pregnant women to postpone travel to areas with Zika.

The Centers for Disease Control, reports that the most common symptoms of Zika infection are fever, rash, joint pain and red, itchy eyes. “The Zika MAC-ELISA can help determine whether a person has been recently infected with the virus”, said Julie Villanueva, who is with the agency’s Zika response team. Two women had miscarriages.

USA health authorities Friday described the cases of nine pregnant women who contracted the Zika virus while traveling, two of whom chose abortion and one who gave birth to a baby with microcephaly.

The CDC announced Tuesday it was investigating 14 new reports of sexual transmission of the virus. The most severe risk is to pregnant women. Pregnancy outcomes among the nine confirmed cases included two early pregnancy losses, two elective terminations, and three live births (two apparently healthy infants and one infant with severe microcephaly); two pregnancies (approximately 18 weeks’ and 34 weeks’ gestation) are continuing without known complications.

Argentina’s health ministry previously reported eight cases of Zika throughout the country as of last week.

Microcephaly is a condition where a baby’s head is smaller than the typical size – about 33 cm – of a newborn.

“We’re literally learning more about Zika every day”, Frieden said.

At a House committee hearing, CDC Deputy Director Dr. Anne Schuchat said the CDC is in close contact with obstetricians nationwide. The time period in which Zika virus is a threat to fetuses is not yet known. In El Salvador, where abortion is banned, the health minister has argued for a revision of the law because of the dangers the virus poses to fetal development.
