The HTC Vive is one of the most promising virtual reality headset around, with cutting edge tech and applications that show off the future of the format. It’s expensive than the Oculus Rift headset but that was to be expected given the difference between the hardware of these VR headsets. Don’t forget to check out our Hands on: HTC Vive review.

HTC’s Dan O’Brien was keen to talk up the Vive’s advantage over rivals at last week’s Mobile World Congress, especially the fact it “chaperones” you within a playing space so you don’t need to worry about walls. “We’re really excited about it, it’s all there for you”. This offer is only available for a limited time and to those who pre-order the headset. It seems PC-powered, fully immersive virtual reality might not be HTC’s only VR project: it’s also thinking about smartphone-powered VR, something along the lines of the Gear VR or the new LG 360 VR.

Finally, there’s Fantastic Contraption, which involves building insane structures in fantastical locations. Your palette is your imagination. In addition to that, though, HTC has also confirmed the price – and if you’re an Australian, it’s higher than the US$799 price for United States buyers.
