Model and teen reality star Kylie Jenner wants to trademark her first name in the United States.

As Stereogum reports, Minogue’s representatives, KDB “filed “notices of opposition” to Jenner’s trademark applications for “both advertising and entertainment”.

Or is it the plump-lipped, endlessly-pouting and provocatively chic Kylie Jenner, the youngest daughter in the extended Kardashian/Jenner clan?

KDB, an Australian-based business representing Minogue, argues that if the US Patent and Trademark Office approved Jenner’s application then it would cause confusion among consumers and dilute the pop singer’s brand.

The application has been up for opposition since August past year and interestingly, Jenner is additionally seeking to trademark the name for entertainment purposes, which can now also be opposed.

Anyway, Kylie Jenner attempted to file a trademark claim on the word “Kylie” and was quickly hit with a challenge by Kylie Minogue’s legal team.

Minogue has reportedly hired lawyer Rebeccah Gan, of Washington DC firm Wenderoth LLP, which advertises itself as “an Intellectual Property firm with one primary focus – prosecution”.

Despite the opposition notice making reference to Minogue’s music making the charts in the USA, including “The Loco-Motion” in 1988 and winning a Grammy Award for “Come Into My World” in 2004, by Minogue’s own admission she has never truly cracked the US market, despite her popularity in Europe, Asia and at home in Australia, according to the New York Times.

Jenner has yet to respond to Minogue’s legal challenge.
