Academy Awards: Alicia Vikander (aka Belle) Looks Gorgeous in Yellow Louis Vuitton

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander won the supporting actress Oscar on Sunday for transgender movie “The Danish Girl” as host Chris Rock pulled no punches in taking aim at the #OscarsSoWhite controversy dominating Hollywood.

Vikander has been making a name for herself in the last couple of years with A Royal Affair, Testament of Youth, and Ex Machina and this is the first Oscar nomination of her career.

Paying tribute to the cast, crew and particularly her leading man Eddie Redmayne, she said: “Eddie, there you are”.

Take Cate Blanchett, who stunned in a slim-fitting John Galliano number featuring butterfly embellishments and a sexy plunging back to her first Oscars in 1999, when she was a Best Actress nominee for Elizabeth. And Vikander made sure to thank the film’s director along with her co-star, Eddie Redmayne. “Film. And the people making them”, she said.

Accepting her awards, Vikander said, “To my mom and dad”.

“She’s just the most extraordinary talent”.

ET chatted with the Danish Girl star earlier this month at the Oscar Nominee Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, when she revealed how she comes up with her already much-praised awards season style.

With her hair center parted and pulled away from her face, Vikander’s golden complexion was glowing, heightened with a swirl of earth-tones eye shadow, and a deft swipe of nude lipstick.

“Thank you for giving me the belief that anything can happen, even though I would never have believed this”, she said.

Backstage on the Thank You Cam, the 27-year-old actress expanded on her gratitude.

She joked: “That would be great because then we can have that and then have a little drink”.

Alicia’s win may have come as a welcome surprise to her fans.

Besides Michael Fassbender, also starring in The Light Between Oceans are Alicia Vikander and Rachel Weisz. The film depicts the unusual love story between Lili and the wife who remained by her side, Vikander’s Gerda Wegener.
