McCarthy said they made the film for all the journalists who hold those in power accountable.

Di Caprio described The Revenant as a film about a man’s relationship with the natural world and said it fitted with an obsession of his – the environment and climate change.
Fury Road lost in its four other nominated categories: Best Cinematography and Best Directing, which both went to The Revenant; Best Visual Effects, which was scooped by Ex Machina; and Best Picture, won by Spotlight. “I can’t believe this is happening”.
During his acceptance speech, Inarritu mentioned a line in the film where DiCaprio’s character says to his half-Native American son, “They don’t listen to you, they just see the color of your skin”. Leo, you are The Revenant. “It was the 26-year-old actress” first Oscar nomination.
A refreshing addition to the normally Oscar-bait movie list, Mad Max: Fury Road serves an interesting juxtaposition to the dramatic and stereotypical Oscar nominations we are used to.
“Mad Max: Fury Road” dominated technical categories, winning six Oscars in the show’s first 90 minutes: costume design, production design, makeup, film editing, sound editing and sound mixing.
If experts and bookmakers are correct, the 88th Academy Awards will be one of the great moments – perhaps greatest – in Australian film history.
The high-octane film was the fourth instalment of the Mad Max franchise, which grossed more than $500 million worldwide.
Common, who won an Oscar previous year for his song “Glory”, said the film community is aware there’s a problem, but now it’s time “to work toward a solution”.
Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance, “Bridge of Spies”. “Scott Pilgrim” alum Brie Larson won Best Actress for her work in “Room”.
George Miller, the director of the movie is put forward for the Best Director award in Oscar 2016. McKay thanked Paramount Pictures for taking a risk on a movie about “financial esoterica”.
The Best Film Oscar went to Spotlight. The Amy Winehouse documentary, simply called Amy, won for documentary feature.
“We were too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won best cinematographer”, he said. It never ceases to annoy me how many people it takes to make me look competent, Gibson said.
But controversy over the “whitewashing” of nominations – there are no ethnic minority nominees in the acting categories for the second year running – threatens to steal the limelight.

The award for best production design went to Australians Colin Gibson, Lisa Thompson and the Oscar for best make-up and hairstyling went to Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega and Damian Martin.
