I-90 closed in Grant County due to brush fire
“Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly”, Transportation officials said, noting the interstate is open in both directions.

There was heavy smoke and fire across the freeway, the state patrol said. In the afternoon the state patrol closed I-90 between George and the Vantage bridge.
SEATTLE Wind-swept flames from a brush fire in eastern Washington state that erupted over the weekend have leapt across a major U.S. interstate, forcing officials to close the highway and order residents to flee dozens of homes, police said on Monday.
A trailer full of hay burned on the road next to I-90.
It’s not clear how long the lanes would be closed. High winds and blowing dust make visibility low and unsafe for drivers.
The cause of the brush fire is still under investigation.
About 100 firefighters and a helicopter responded to the fire, which was more than 700 acres, as stated by Wright. No homes or out buildings have been lost at this time.
The residents of 50 homes have been told to prepare to leave if the fire comes their way. There are now 200 firefighters on the scene battling the blaze. The tractor was not damaged and nobody was injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

So far, no evacuations have been ordered.
