Clinton scores decisive win over Sanders in SC
Clinton’s campaign stopped polling in SC a week before Saturday’s contest because they thought it was a waste of money given what they saw as an all-but-certain win. But then she pivoted quickly to the contests to come. “There are lots of barriers, so we need to be honest about that because I think we are stronger when we all are helping each other get ahead and go as far as your hard work and talent will take you”, she said.

Vermont, Sanders’s very-white home state, skews things a bit, but even when it is included, you can see clearly that the higher the percentage of the vote that is black, the more support Clinton gets.
The wide margin of her SC victory accelerates her transition to the general election.
Before the speech, he told reporters, “In politics on a given night, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose”.
Since the Super Tuesday states will feature southern states, such as Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee, where blacks make up a large portion of the Democratic electorate, Clinton is very likely to have more big wins. Black voters powered Clinton to victory in SC, with 8 in 10 voting for her, and are expected to be the difference makers for Clinton throughout the South.
So as tempting as it might be for Sanders, and his supporters, to draw a line under the debacle and move on to greener pastures-as indeed the Senator himself began doing even before the voting began-that would be a potentially fatal mistake. He also carried those who identified themselves as independent, and most white voters.
Clinton was confident going into SC on Saturday.
It appears that Black voters were a key factor in what’s predicted to be a huge win for Clinton.
“Both Mike Beebe, the prior Democratic governor, [and] now Asa Hutchinson, the current Republican governor, have been among the most creative leaders in the country to figure out how to expand Medicaid in Arkansas“, she said.
“I think it’s most important for us, as we look at our choices as to who our next commander in chief will be, is to recognize the necessity to have a commander in chief who has foresight, who exercises good judgment”, Gabbard, a United States representative for Hawaii, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”. Hillary Clinton has more baggage than a jumbo jet, from her priapic husband Bill to her decades at the heart of the American political machine in an era when outsiders are in vogue.
According to In These Times, over 40 local unions have endorsed Sanders, often diverging from the national unions’ endorsements of Clinton.
It’s worth remembering that, in the busy schedule over the next few weeks, Sanders won’t have been able to spend much time on the ground, certainly not spending as much time as he did in Iowa or New Hampshire.
For Mrs Clinton, South Carolina was a moment to wipe away bitter memories of her loss to Barack Obama there eight years ago.
Sanders’ appearance in Oklahoma was the second within a week as he tried to gain voters ahead of Super Tuesday. In the email, Sanders thanked those in SC who stood behind him. “Tomorrow, this race goes national”.
When asked which candidate they thought “can win in November”, an overwhelming 79 percent said Clinton, with only 21 percent putting their faith in Sanders to defeat the eventual Republican nominee.
