Neighbor fired air rifle, unaware it hit Salma Hayek’s dog

A neighbor fired an air rifle toward a dog that had come into his garage and fought with his own dogs, apparently unaware that he had struck and killed the actress’ dog, 9-year-old Mozart, authorities in Washington state said Monday.

A devastated Salma Hayek will not receive the justice she wants as she mourns the “slow and painful” death of her beloved dog from a shooting by her neighbor.

In a news release, the Thurston County Sheriff Office said that Hayek’s caretaker, Kelly Littlejohn, called to report the death of the dog on her property south of Yelm, Washington.

A local vet conducted a necropsy, and found that a pellet had nicked an artery, causing the dog to bleed out. He told authorities that every time the actress’ caretakers took her dogs for a walk, this would happen. However, the case will be forwarded to the county prosecutor for review.

Be Civil – It’s OK to have a difference in opinion but there’s no need to be a jerk. She said Hayek’s dogs often come over to her property and chase her dogs.

The neighbor said Hayek’s dogs were in his garage fighting with his two German Shepherds and that he tried to scare them away.

“I’m still coming to terms with all of this, as you can imagine”, Lund said. “He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart”, Hayek posted on Instagram, along with a photo of the dog. “We believe that the homeowner was only protecting his animals and not trying to purposely kill or maim a dog”.

Hayek acknowledged that her husband, the French entrepreneur Francois-Henri Pinault, has “threatened” her, saying she had rescued enough animals, which she brings into her “sanctuary”, where she shelters about 30 creatures – including turkeys, hamsters, alpacas, horses, parrots, fish and a cat. “I’m really sorry that the dog died”, she added.
