Wind Advisory for SE Michigan until 7 p.m. Monday

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook at just before 4 p.m. on February 28, 2016, warning Granite Staters to expect snow, freezing rain, sleet, and then rain beginning on Tuesday night and into Wednesday, according to the alert. This one won’t last almost as long or produce as much snow, but it will have a big impact on at least one commute.

Southwest winds will turn northwest behind a strong cold front and will gust to 45 miles per hour through this evening.

Some areas of the state could get snow tonight.

Monday will be a cloudy and windy day with occasional mountain snow lingering into the afternoon. Seas are expected to reach 17 to 18 feet by late Tuesday morning. The overnight low is expected to be near 27. There may be a bit of snow around, but the bulk of it will fall after lunch. With some of the heavier snow coming during the afternoon drive.

Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 miles per hour or gusts of 58 miles per hour or more can lead to property damage.
