Record high for Toronto as warm weather system flows through Southern Ontario

One day after smashing records for warm temperatures, southern Ontario is bracing for another winter storm.

Another low pressure system from Texas will track towards the Lower Great Lakes Monday brining snow to the region for tomorrow.

Weather officials say this type of storm can bring 15 to 30cm of heavy snow and possibly some freezing rain and ice pellets.

Punishing snowstorms poised to pound southern Ontario are expected to make Toronto a white nightmare on Tuesday, Environment Canada is predicting.

In addition to Toronto, winter storm warnings have also been posted for Mississauga, Milton, Burlington, Hamilton, and Niagara.

A snow squall warning was issued by Environment Canada Monday afternoon for a number of areas, including Barrie, Gravenhurst, Huntsville and Algonquin.

Early indicators pointed to the highest accumulation occurring around Hamilton, with up to 30 cm of snowfall possible in any areas receiving the brunt of the snow.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel hard over some locations”.

Those totals may be even less in some areas, depending on when the precipitation turns from a wintry mix to snow.
