#OscarsSoWhite: Looking at the Conversation Around the Academy Awards
You see, during the tedious but obligatory live promo segment for the accounting firm of PriceWaterhouseCooper-the company that tallies the votes from the Academy’s 94% white membership in order to determine which of the white nominees will win awards-Rock and his writers apparently made a decision to juice things up a bit.

Chris Rock presents children representing “accountants from PricewaterhouseCoopers”.
One day after the 88th annual Academy Awards and it’s time to start looking forward to next year. You can download the Watch ABC app and log-in using a valid cable subscription, available on both iOS and Android, but note that ABC is only streaming the Oscars to a restricted list of USA cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Fresno, Houston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Raleigh-Durham.
Hosting this years Oscars is comedian Chris Rock who is notorious for calling out actors from the stage.
Here is how Oscars 2016 kept it real…
There was even less attention on Hispanic actors, who are twice as under-represented as black actors at the Oscars, as Washington Post writer Dan Zak pointed out in this examination of why diversity is complicated in Hollywood.
After providing commentary about the lack of black actors and actresses nominated for the prestigious awards, Rock brought out three Asian children for a joke that rubbed Lin – and many others – the wrong way.
Rock also connected the racism issue with that of gender. Talk of election was largely absent from the ceremony, though Vice President Joe Biden was met by a standing ovation before talking about sexual assault on college campuses in an introduction to best-song nominee Lady Gaga.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also did not respond to a request for comment. Isn’t she on a TV show? Last year’s telecast, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, slid 16 percent to 36.6 million viewers, a six-year low. “You know, if George Clooney showed up with a lime green tux on, and a swan coming out his ass, somebody would go, ‘What you wearing, George?’ he said, adding, “Everything’s not sexism, everything’s not racism”.
