Dark Souls III will be playable at gamescom 2015

Dark Souls, a game so hard that it’ll nail your head to the floor while it’s brother Doug Souls looks on and hallucinates about a enormous hedgehog called Spiny Norman, is getting another sequel. Both games are said to “feature methodical combat and a punishing difficulty” and the way characters progress in the game are the same. This is to make them more in line with Bloodborne’s weapons. The game is developed by the same developer that worked on another action-RPG, “Bloodborne“, which is the Japan-based From Software. Whereas Dark Souls rewards players for blocking with shields and taking their time, Bloodborne actually rewards health to players for taking risks. He will also come with increased agility, as well as better designed weapons including a pair of scimitars.

The Ready Stance mechanic in Dark Souls 3 is a pose that allows players to perform different kinds of attacks.

Discussing the game as part of this month’s feature (and quoted on GamesRadar), the outlet describes Dark Souls III’s hero as “more agile” with quicker movement, back-step and faster sword strike. Longswords, for example, unleash a guard-breaking swipe, while greatswords gain the ability to launch an upward slash that sends enemies into the air.

And it seems From Software have also pushed to improve the use of range attacks, with the shortbow now a viable option to help take down an enemy at mid-range.

However, since Edge Magazine was only shown a preview, it is unclear how far the combat system would change before the game finally gets released in 2016 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on the PC.
