Maradona: Stop pampering Messi
Messi needs to be treated just like we treat all the other players who put on the national team uniform.

Maradona insists Messi’s inability to find the back of the net was not to blame for the final defeat to Chile, with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez netting the decisive penalty in the final.
World Cup victor Maradona – regarded as one of football’s greatest ever players – had his say and claimed Messi is unable to replicate his Barcelona form at worldwide level. This has annoyed everyone in Argentina, including Diego Maradona thinks is about time to strip Leo Messi of Argentina captain armband and should be treated like any other player.
For Lionel Messi, the wait is still on.
“[But] Messi hasn’t killed or raped anyone – let’s not make a big deal over this”. The FC Barcelona star striker scored just once against Paraguay, helping Argentina thrash 6-1 in the semi-finals.
Yet outside of his undoubted ability, there is also something inherently likeable about Lionel Messi. “But I can’t spend anymore time without saying thank you to everyone who has always supported us and continued to during the tough moments”.
Argentine media published unconfirmed reports that Messi was considering leaving the national team. We don’t have to go to such extremes but nor should we be content at finishing runners-up.

“What Argentina didn’t do was attack”. With his club he won this season the treble of league, cup and Champions League.
