Several babies born on Leap Day in Hawaii

The extra day in the month exists to account for the earth’s orbit around the sun taking slightly longer than 365 days.

Each “leapling” born on Leap Day received a frog hat or a hooded bath towel decorated with a frog, which is the unofficial symbol of Leap Year.

She joins fellow leapers in the town including little Lauren Penney celebrating her first official birthday at the age of four and former dancing girl José Walklate who had her 22nd birthday… despite being 88.

“Right away, he said when do you celebrate?”

Mom said it was a smooth delivery.

“We’re in love with him, he’s super calm and quiet and this is how he’s been since he came out”.

A LEAP year baby gave her parents a very special surprise at the Great Western Hospital today.

“I just think it’s really cool”.

The children will celebrate their birthday on either the 28 February or 1 March every year. “So, anything that could, I don’t want to say go wrong”, Kelley said.

Greene said, “We picked Leap Day to have him so that he’d always have a special day just for himself”. Both mothers are happy, healthy, and are resting comfortably.
