UK report says leaving EU would cause decade of uncertainty
“If it’s a shock to the world economy imagine what it would do to Britain”. For what they’re actually saying is that we’re so bad at this business of government that it would take us 10 years to sort this out.

Cabinet Office minister Matt Hancock denied accusations the Government was stoking fears about the consequences of a vote to leave in the referendum on June 23, insisting the analysis was a “cautious assessment”.
They said the thinly veiled attack last week on Johnson, the most prominent party member in the “Out” camp, violated an unwritten rule that both sides respect each others’ opinions. He said recent reforms that Mr Cameron secured on welfare payments to European Union workers seemed “unlikely, frankly” to reduce the number of new arrivals.
Cameron’s spokeswoman, Helen Bower, said Grayling’s allegation of scaremongering was wrong and defended the right of the prime minister and the government to make the case for a vote to stay.
He says he would immediately trigger the process of pulling out if the country voted for it. “Leave – and you’re taking a gamble with people’s lives”.
The Prime Minister has said this threat of another independence referendum in the event of an Out verdict was another reason for Britons to vote In.
In a significant boost for Cameron and Osborne, US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew expressed clear support for Britain’s continued membership of the EU.
A new trade deal would need approval from all European Union countries, including seven Belgian parliamentary chambers.
Mr Cameron on Monday rejected claims he is employing “Project Fear” tactics, saying that “the only project I’m interested in is Project Fact”. “Britain could have a really great future, with a more dynamic economy and a happier population”, said Mr Johnson.
He said he would be “shelving everything else” to focus on the referendum but would not be drawn on suggestions he was backing “Out” to further his own career.
Some will question whether the London Mayor has been too politically agile to work through the process and whether he knows what policy work is required to limit the risks. Boris Johnson called those comments “baloney”.
“He is playing fast and loose with people’s jobs, with no clue over what he actually wants for Britain”.
Washington is anxious that the referendum’s result could affect how America’s allies relate to each other at a time of growing global instability, including, most notably, an increasingly expansionist Russian Federation, not to mention the problems represented by ISIS and other jihadist groups, including those active in Africa.
A deadline of two years would be put in place for a country to finalise exiting the union, however the report said it would be hard to get everything done by summer 2018.
“There would be no requirement under European Union law for these rights to be maintained if the United Kingdom left the European Union”, it adds.
However, the former Conservative chancellor Lord Lawson ridiculed the G20 warning.
