Although we were of course rooting for our own Michael Fassbender, who went head to head with Leo for the Best Actor crown, a small part of us really wanted it for Leo. She was seen cheering tearfully in the audience as Leo accepted his long-awaited and well-deserved award. From strutting the 1998 Golden Globes red carpet side by side to DiCaprio blowing kisses at Winslet during her emotional 2009 Golden Globes speech. And to my friends, I love you dearly, you know who you are.

Both Kate, 40, and Leo, 41, are nominated for Academy Awards tonight; Leo for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for The Revenant and Kate for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Steve Jobs.

Most of us think Leonardo DiCapirio should have won an Oscar for his third film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), in which he played the autistic brother (Arnie) of the titular Gilbert Grape (a role essayed by Johnny Depp).

Titanic was, of course, an unmitigated disaster for Jack Dawson as he drowned mid-Atlantic, so let’s hope Adele’s message of support isn’t a premonition of a night where Leo’s left out in the cold once again.

DiCaprio “her nearest buddy was declared by Winslet within the world” by remembering her and he produced “collective”.

– During the show radio personality Ellen K said attendees were told they had five minutes to get back to their seats or they “had to wait 20 minutes until the next commercial break”.
